From negationism to ‘negotiated’
Denial is a refusal to accept a reality that can be empirically verified. In the case of the environment, denying energy limits, peak oil or anthropogenic climate change. There is a strong ideological stream into which economic corporations and many political leaders can enter. The main reason for the refusal is that the economic system cannot suffer delays or decrees. If not chaos, because we will all live worse. For years, however, we have been witnessing a movement of translation and many of the agents who have been in ecological negationism have taken the path towards ecapitalism. I believe that there are two reasons for this change. On the one hand, the centrality of the environment, or rather of the socio-ecological crisis, on the media political agenda, and on the other hand, the recognition of science to environmentalism.

Science. The report leaked this summer by the IPCC (International Panel for Climate Change) has no doubt: declining is critical to overcoming the climate emergency. The linkage of scientific discourse, environmentalism and the mobilization and pressure of civil society is clearer than ever, but it does not guarantee the implementation of policies necesarias.El the economic system in which we live, capitalism, has to grow relentlessly in order to be able to stand. And denouncing the unfeasibility of green capitalism or ecotourism is not well seen in our political institutions and universities.
