Digital generation
  • Today we have a reflection consisting of three elements. The first ingredient is the song a participant shared on @hezkuntzaanlibre Telegram: It's being lost from Joseba Irazoka. The second component is related to the call for this year's Durango Fair's Digital Creation Grant. And the third ingredient is that in October, Facebook has changed its name to Meta.

These are the ingredients that have led me to think about digital creation. And what comes to mind is a creation that wouldn't happen if there wasn't all that happens around digitization and its exploitation.

Joseba Irazoka’s song, for example, would not exist – as she reflects on digitalization and memory – video games would not exist, nor synthesized sound, video mapping..

Creativity is a very open concept that together with the digital world can also be very creative in management, in marketing, in business models...

The new name of Facebook, Meta, is related to the idea of the meta-verse, followed by the idea of an expanded digital space. And because the technologies that today promote digitalization, supported especially by new developments in telecommunications, offer more and more possibilities to create hybrid immersive spaces, Facebook sees its future creating and promoting these spaces. So what Facebook does can be called digital creation.

Facebook will continue to reproduce its successful current business model, and these platform models seem to have business potential. These “metaverses”, more immersive, will also be more intrusive and will empower Facebook to learn more about people’s lives and thereby drive their lives more. How far do we need to get into our lives, lead the future of living beings and the planet? Not only creators, but also digital creators. It's not easy.
