We cannot be more satisfied with this ABAO opera season. After a year and a half without any representation, in the end we have been able to enjoy the good performance. However, we must acknowledge that at this time of heavy cutbacks, ABAO has shown imagination and effort to offer all fans good music and a good song. We are certainly grateful for that. But the truth is that the feeling of a live opera, including breaks, and with the possibility of socializing among attendees, is priceless.

For this Rentrée, the ABAO has chosen a very appropriate title, full of fantasy, magic and charm, and with first-rate interpreters nivel.El Hoffmann’s story is composed of stories narrated by the writer himself, Hoffmann, focused on
Hoffmann himself. The character weaves with memory and experience his peculiar world and among them the women loved under four images, even if they are a single woman: Olympia, Antonia, Giulietta and Stella. There is no lack of the mefistopyelic figure that gives life to the most innermost thoughts of the soul, as the double personality of Hoffmann himself.

Michael Fabiano, in Hoffmann's role, conquered the audience with a strong, clear and effective song. It had extraordinary moments such as La chanson de Kleinzach or the Aria of closure of the second edition.

The baritone Simon Orfila, well-known by ABAO viewers, was on the same level and represented the evil characters such as Lindorf, Coppelius, Miracle or Dapertutto, all of them disturbing and bearers of perversion in the four stories narrated in this opera.

Likewise, tenor Mikeldi Atxalandabaso was found at its best, very well in voice and with great interpretative expressiveness.

Of course, the main protagonist was soprano Jessica Pratt. Interpreting the four Hoffmann lovers surprised the audience. He was beaten by the magical palette of the scene and had unbeatable moments. He performed with great pleasure the Aria de Olympia, the Aria de Antonia and the Belle nuit, with grace and sweet phrasing.

The good works of the Orchestra, the choir (wonderful) and the stage direction of Vincent Huguet put the rest of his components on a wonderful night.
