The old turbulents of the town made us a review from below with the look: We were “OK”, well-styled, the shoes were well blushed… They were bad looks for social control, to put each one in place and put a label on each one. Good/bad, acceptance/disdain, smile/pussy. Moral caregivers, converted into censors and inquisitions, are always willing to open the gossip. Moral superiority.
The looks they were throwing at us were half-hidden. Although we knew perfectly well that we had a rigorous and ruthless trial. They owned moral truth, placed themselves above others.
I would say that those elderly clasists and moral caretakers are disappearing over time, or perhaps the sentences that have been made have lost their importance. But they have achieved the relay: younger, more educated, who looks like saying “I already know, you don’t”, who doesn’t listen to the reasons of others. Always look above, classify others with moral superiority, nose above. Modern people, supposedly, but as self-regulators.
