7.8 billion people are concentrated in the world today. That said, no heat, no cold, maybe. But in view of the numbers, we can guess the size of the exponential rise: In 1950, we were 2,600; in 1987, 5,000; in 1999, 6,000. And according to estimates, by 2050, we could reach 9.7 billion; by 2,100, we could reach 11 billion.
The effects of the most threatened human growth on the world and life in this age of anthropocene have been evident for a long time. The rise of this species of leitmotiv, whose consumption, soiling and destruction, has only increased and accelerated the disaster we have already created, keeping the hope for the subsistence of millions and millions of individuals of the same species.
I guess that's why I'm upset by the hair around my body every time I hear calls that want to cut birth rates.
"When power ties wants to solve population problems focused on birth, let's start shaking women."
Most of those who claim that there is a birth problem do not do so in order to rethink the human costs of reproductive work and, even less so, to rethink the human costs of reproductive work, which prevent young people, and the elderly, from bringing their children to the forefront regrettable working and living conditions, or think about the burden of women’s double days. The birth problem is a demographic problem. And we're not going to be fooled, squaring demography is a huge headache for all countries.
But if demography goes beyond the birth rate, why then that commitment? Most of these speeches want to repopulate countries, yes, but with local white children, of course, as in Orbanen Hungary.
Meanwhile, the white North-West has made it impossible to live in more and more areas of the world. Millions of displaced persons are also counted, and that is why we are not deceiving ourselves: Does anyone believe that within ten, twenty, thirty years, when we are almost 10 billion people, the war for access to natural resources, geopolitical competition, the consumst-capitalist system are going to be abolished? Despite being disguised as green, drivers will appear perfectly wanting to tear apart and perfectly with life.
The calls to look back and the speeches that mystify the past also cause me nervousness. The situation of women has never been better in past times. I am also concerned about how “liberal freedom” is spreading to more and more areas, as if we had the opportunity to really choose or were not guided by our “desires”, and how other values and struggles are blurred in the collective imaginary, such as independence, which has historically been one of the main struggles of women and which, as all the data indicate, we are far from being reached.
When power ties wants to solve population problems centered on birth, let's start shaking women. The substate is clear, it fills your role. And let all those who flee their lands and have a darker skin start, because there is no intention of opening the doors.
Controlling demography at the borders of the country is, above all, an economic challenge. Considering global demography is a survival challenge. While the planet is finite, it seems that we have a hard time looking at the consequences of the continued growth of the species. This epidemic had to teach us to think and act in broad coordinates that from now on will be indispensable. That does not seem to be the case.
