Bronze Age in Lucerne Waters
  • Swiss archaeologists have been trying for more than three decades to show that at the origin of the city of Lucerne there was a village of the Bronze Age.

Recently, divers from the Zurich Urban Development Office have found in the waters of Lake Luzerna 30 wooden poles over which the houses were built and 5 ceramic pieces.

Radiocarbon studies say they're about 3,000 years old. Thus, an ancestral hypothesis is confirmed: During the Bronze Age, when the Lucerne water level was about four meters from the present, humans lived in the lake basin.
