In debt
Itxaro Borda 2021eko apirilaren 20a

In the wake of the appearances of these ruin days, the Basques seem to be in debt to the past and to the future. The sense of one of the founders of ETA, Julen Madariaga, seems to have rekindled the wick of the word, so we were indebted because we were not in the situation in which we found ourselves without him or his friends, watching the Tatort series in German and learning the lessons of the Non-violent Communication.

"Because they were debtors, they accepted everything, as Niko Etxarte said 'half-atzarri, erdi lo, erdi hil'"

At the end of the fourteen-year war, the church repeated to our ancestors the disgust, paying the blood debt to France, that those of the lesser homeland had a de facto right to be whole members of the greater homeland. Because they were debtors, they accepted everything, half behind it, half asleep, half dead as Niko Etxarte said. The anti-nationalist priests also accused them of the loss of Euskera, especially his wife. Debt is the symbol of an unsolved implicit dependence, in the home, in the people and in the world.

Debt is ideological in our country: by adding capital and interests, it has become an animal and lives have been asked to liquidate it, sacrifices, martyrs, éresis... the paraphernalia of the debts we have known until recently.
