Scars then, current compensations

Rodolfo Martín Villa together with the president of the Endesa, Juan Sánchez Calero.

The impunity and influence of Rodolfo Martín Villa with his political career is better seen if analyzed not only in parties and institutions, but also in the weight and presence that he has had in the large companies of the Spanish State in the last Catalan daily cadas.El El Critic has registered in the commercial register and since the 1990s
has been able to confirm that the former Francoist president has held positions in 45 companies, some of which are known. In total, Martín Villa has held 93 corporate positions in 30 years, the last in June 2019, when he was appointed external advisor to the construction and industrial company Técnica Reunidas, a work for which he still charges 115,000 gross euros a year.

His first contacts with the business world coincided with the taking of the senior officials of the Franco regime, when he was declared a Falangist. Thus, in 1973 he was appointed president of the Industrial Credit Bank (BCI). Until in 1979 he ceased to be minister of the Interior and in 1980 he was appointed minister of the Territorial Administration, he took over the leadership of Ibercopper, a company that had the monopoly of copper extraction in the Spanish State, also called “ministerial residence on the other side”.

Later, during the mandate of the PSOE, he held the high positions of several mutual societies and insurance companies, with more or less scandals, and was also president of La Cellophane Española de Burgos, owned by the Bank of Bilbao. From 1993 to 1997 Martín Villa will chair the Control Council of Caja Madrid. It is precisely in those years that the well-known black cards began to be used, and at the trial held in 2018 many asked for the testimony of the former Francoist minister.

But the most important businesses did it in the 1990s, when their friend José María Aznar came to power. In 1997 he became president of Endesa, but in the process of privatization. At its head, the great Spanish electric company installed its claws in Chile with its subsidiary Enersis and built the giant Mapuche prey in the Biobío Valley, causing an enormous natural genocide, for which it also had the “help” of famous pinochetists. At that time, dictator Augusto Pinochet was in London, held in custody following an international arrest warrant, and the President of Endesa took steps to release him.

Sogecable (2004-2010), Sareb (2013-2018) or the MGO Group (2013-2019) have been our falangist’s next runways. But his family company, Polinmarpe S.L., represents what can best be achieved with political influences. The family of Martín Villa, which owns 21% of the actions, is closely linked to the cleaning company Cliner, S.A. Cliner was founded in 1985 by several members of the Popular Alliance environment, including Martín Villa, and has contracted services with multiple banks and public institutions: BBVA, Santander, Transportes de Valencia, Government of
Cantabria...Many governments and companies have fed the former Francoist minister. In exchange for what? How far do the scars and compensations from the Transition's blows reach?
