Caral was the capital of civilization that developed on the Peruvian coast some 5,000 years ago, and in the last quarter of a century have given many details about this civilization both the excavations in the capital and in many other deposits.

Their economy was based on agriculture and fisheries, but they were also engaged in trade and mining and shared their scientific and technological knowledge with the surrounding peoples.
