New year
At the beginning of the new year, it is customary to review past events. In this time of domination of disasters, despair or collapse, we will therefore remember a worsening of the socio-economic situation of the humble people; a worsening of working conditions in all areas; an advance in climate warming and pollution; the persistence of political extremism, terrorism, physical or moral violence, fraud and corruption of a few scattered and multi-ethnic peoples. After these kinds of reviews, how can we not see the future that starts with the new year as dark as terrible? In the name of which faith does he choose “happy new year”? Who loves the neighbor? What hope will you believe that peace, love, respect, courtesy and respect for land will begin to succeed in the next twelve months?
However, there is no choice: if we do not want to be at the bottom of the river, we have to go ahead, we have to tie ourselves to something. Everyone will do whatever they deem necessary, engaging in all kinds of direct fighting. I will work in associations, at work, at home and in my head, in the field of language and imagination. Finally, I have the urge to follow the path of literature more than ever before. The literature, which is insignificant and truthful for the French, is established as “leisure” in the Vitae curricula. The final or inculcated truth. But it can make the impetus cracked, able to keep it alive.
For a long time, literature, imagination, fiction, virtuality and work, reason, reality and actuality have been confronted. The former could escape the world, the latter were the keys to making the world turn. But surely, this separation has brought us into trouble. I have no doubt that if we made more room for literature, for imagination and for free invention in society, we would feel improvements. I believe that literature lovers, imaginers and inventors are influenced by society in a positive and strong way.
In this way, I believe it is essential that in education we make a wide space to literature and to the imaginative fluidity that allows, from early childhood to university. In Issue 31 of Hazi Hezi, the writer Jesus Mari Olaizola Txiliku has published the following note: “It’s not that you read less, but that you read less stories. Today on TV there are a thousand colors programs for children, movies, don't say on the internet, etc. Today ' s children have at their disposal other stimuli of imagination, as well as books. I myself prove that in school, young people have little imagination, that most of the time they write without proposing any solution, with pointless or misguided wars.
The imagination acquired through literature is verbal. It is the universe that words explicitly or implicitly promote as a symbolic game, necessary to relate to the real world. Let us therefore read or write stories, poems and novels, analyze them together to illuminate the new year.
