It is a fight against the capitalist system which, with the help of the administration, promotes private plans to the detriment of the public system. This is a solidarity and cross-cutting struggle, in which pensioners of different colours and ideologies have joined together. It is also intergenerational because, in addition to them, they require decent public pensions for their children and grandchildren. This is a struggle that is not forgotten with the recipients of precarious minimum pensions and with precarious salaries.
The Basque pensioners have been able to reconcile the mobilizations of the week before the City Hall with other mass demonstrations, as well as the march to Madrid. Their demands have not changed: pensions revalued according to the real CPI, with a minimum of EUR 1,080; the minimum wage of EUR 1,200; and that the Basque Government and the Government of Navarre complement that minimum.
They have expressed solidarity with the rest of society and have joined in the general strike called by the Charter of Social Rights of the Basque Country in January. Against the labour reform, for decent pensions, to be able to retire at the age of 65, to have a working week of 35 hours… Congratulations pensioners! In tune with the plural ideology, continue claiming: “Whoever sends him, always in favor of pensions.”
