The Basque is furious over the last few days, I do not know which court has taken a decision on the Basque who violates the rights of Vasco-speakers, which is an injustice, and which is a stupidity, a madness, a regular midwife. To me, what I am going to tell you, I am increasingly weighed down by this usual victimizing speech, because I believe that the insult of the Spaniards – or French – against the Basques should not be news for us either. Even less so, cause for astonishment or alarm.

It has been centuries since the French and the Spaniards got into the house by force and by the cane of command in their hand, defeating Euskal Herria. The fact that they have fallen into the claws of these two dominant states is the origin of all the crude situation that we suffer as a people, because they want our people for them, and because to do so they have to root out everything that violates Basque identity, putting in place a process of unrelenting assimilation until full colonization.

We must place the problem of the Basque Country in the context of this organized strategy for the destruction of the Basque Country. Because only as a symptom of what happens to Euskal Herria can we analyze everything that happens to those who are a symbol of our vascuity. The Basque Country, to the extent that it is the breath and soul of the people, is the first destination of the attacks of imperialist nationalism, since it is our national language, which clearly demonstrates that we are another nation.

Although they tell us otherwise – and in order for us to believe them better, and even in recent times in Basque – they want to make the Basque country disappear, and according to the data, they are being carried out with great effectiveness. Why are Spanish and French here the only languages in which we need to learn? How do you explain that it is French and not Basque, the only language known to all the occupied French Basques, or Spanish, in the case of the occupied Spanish? Because they're very attractive languages? We have a very nice language, one of the oldest in Europe, a small treasure… But the Basque language is still a personal option, a voluntary gesture, a matter of feelings.

No. That power is in the hands of the Spanish and French, that they have sufficient power to be able to impose their own languages, and that to do so they have the necessary superior political structure – the state. These are the reasons. We, on the other hand, are still subjects, and instead of activating and feeding our State to get out of this oppression, in the autonomous institutions, which are merely branches of foreign power, we are playing to make governance, as if it were possible, a truly effective policy for Euskal Herria.

What kind of justice will the Basque Country find in the calm and interested setting that they have imposed on us to carry out a supposed linguistic coexistence? It is sterile for us to complain about the mockery that makes us, to base the essence of the movement for language on the demand of mercy towards us. Because the key to ensuring the future of the language is not the denunciation of violations of the rights of speakers and the mere demand for more effective language policies. If the only effective remedy that can prevent the total death of the Basque Country is the recovery of the independence of the Basque Country, what are we spending time and energy on other dark and false ways? And more importantly, why?
