Save the planet to save us
- The planet is angry because we are dying with our economic system, with our way of producing, with food, with the type of energy and with modes of transport, we are ending the environment in which we live. We're in a climate emergency situation, but we don't seem to know. We live in social carbon. Governments and institutions should come together to save the Earth that we know.
Maybe there's anyone who doesn't know how to fight for Earth. Well, the creator of the 2015 Paris Climate Change Agreement, Christiana Figueres of Costa Rica, has suggested a number of questions.
“What do we eat?” The link between beef and deforestation is obvious, but we continue to eat red meat every day. What are we doing? We cannot continue to consume products that destroy forests on a continuous basis.
“How do we move and how do we live?” Are our houses and offices isolated enough to spend as little energy as possible? Those who have savings, however little they may be, should know that if you put that money into companies that use fossil fuels, they are ruining the Earth – and they will surely also lose.
On the other hand, those of us who live in “democratic” countries should take into account the commitment that the vote requires and support only those leaders who are aware of the emergency we have above us.
Beyond the responsibility of governments and institutions, each person can contribute to this struggle at home, at work or in the street, through food and consumption, as well as through the choice of transportation and energy we use. Because if we save the Planet, we will save ourselves. Young people with an uncertain future should not wait for action.
