EHKOlektiboa is the meeting point of the agroecological baserritars, whose scope is the whole of the Basque Country, and which works to promote indigenous, ecological and popular cultivation. They work above administrative limits, collaborating farmers and farmers from Zuberoa to Bizkaia. Mr Jokin Zaldunbide, a member of the Gentlemen's Association, said that despite the fact that these limits had been exceeded in activity, they had difficulties in the economic sphere: “Administratively, we are divided into three areas, and what the structure of Euskal Herria does not conceive makes us more difficult.”

In search of economic autonomy

Due to the difficulties they have in accessing grants for this reason, they concluded that, together with the promoter group, they needed an “economic team” to gain autonomy in the sources of money. Hence the idea of the %100 campaign. The title of the campaign is related to the donation of a hundred euros per hundred people, but not only to that: “In a structure at the level of the Basque Country we are not only a hundred, so that 100% has another meaning: that many of us can give a little, we can be a lot more than a hundred.”

With the campaign, they want to reach a broad society. “Agroecology not only has a focus on agriculture, but it has many networks, it is a political project that wants to boost sovereignty in many areas.” They therefore wish to appeal to all those who realise the importance of the work of associations such as baserritarras, EHKOlektiboa and EHKOlektiboa.

How to add up?

The members of the group have opened two current accounts, one for the people of Hego Euskal Herria and another for the people of Ipar Euskal Herria, to make contributions. These numbers are available on the Internet’s EHKOlektiboa website for input.

What can you do with the money you get? They have also announced that they will be able to continue with greater strength and support the initiatives they have been carrying out so far. “It will make it possible to give strength to the working groups that have already been set up and are in progress: horticulturists, farmers, fruit growers… we will continue to dynamise.” In other words, they will continue to give strength to the agroecological movement of the Basque Country, giving dignified conditions to the technique of the group.
