Plastic is present everywhere, embedded in our lives, and although we'd like to, we can't flush it out. This is the trajectory and trajectory of Cosmetics, a group founded in Deusto. Several young people from this bilbaíno neighborhood started long ago to revolve around the most open and imaginative hardcore, under the shadow of El Corazón del Sapo. So, after creating the Black Elf group and performing forceful performances in hundreds of Gaztetxe and squat, they gradually developed their sound and so, along with the Vitesse album, they achieved another kind of body and environment and left the group: they were already caught in the claws of distortion and intensity and fascinated by post-rock.
After a period of reflection, some of its members revived in the breaker group La Hora del Primate, together with José Ramón Rioja, of the Münsterland group. Beer, distortion, Make Up, International Noise Conspiracy and big miss me. They published a long album and dozens of concerts, which you can talk about intensely. A journey too short for everyone’s misfortune. It was a rocket.
By then, Alberto and Ivan had already launched The Cosmetics. In 2015 they published a EP and showed that, in addition to post-punk, beer, funk and indie were able to marry perfectly. Danze! 2017 Miserable! Danze! The work was long and, with him, many strong and contagious concerts. More and more noise and post-rock, getting a stronger and “serious” sound; on the road of a sound wall.
Rockein! 2017 It was made with the first prize of the competition, and this is the result. Pure plastic, a work composed of five songs that completely moves away from the hardcore and the garage and that brings to light in a modern, dark, strong and intense way the influences gathered in the journey. They tell us songs in Spanish instead of yelling at us like in the past. They're surreal, domesticated, yet dangerous stories. And that's what the powerful power trio is all about: very hard guitars, a very strong rhythmic base, and a cocktail that drinks with a desire for post-rock, for noise, for electro (in drops) or for psychodelia.
