Stereo. Miren Gaztañaga. EHAZE, 2017

2006 Undoing Gender by Judith Butler. Film XXY in 2007. In 2008, Testo Yonqui de Beatriz preciado, Feminist Conference of Euskal Herria (Portugalete) and Feminism Porno Punk (Donostia). In 2009, premiere of King Kong Théorie from Virginia Despentes, Feminist Conference of the Spanish State (Granada) and… Stereo.

It is no coincidence that this work reflects on gender, body and desire after talking about transfeminism and queer theory in previous works and meetings.

It is no coincidence that the title of Stereo has been put to this performance, after Miren Gaztañaga has been released and played with the feminine and masculine aspects of his interior around the idea of androgyny.

It is no coincidence that nine years after its premiere not only did the dramatic script appear in book format, but that a collective work has been wanted since personal creation: the creative process, the sources of inspiration, the description of the work, the reflection on the personal work, the experience of the working group (Ainhoa Jauregi, Ainhoa Resano, Ibon Agirre), the contributions of the guests (Naribeminzar).

It is not by chance that it is a work mainly with the body and music and that there are very few texts, but it is a play between dance and theater, as it has overlapped the ní living under the skin and gave them breathing, intercaling the three brief texts he has used between actions and characters.

It is not by chance that at the beginning two and at the end four characters participate, if we take into account that among the initial motivating questions are: “Who am I? How many of me are inside of me? Do I allow everyone to be?”, to start – or continue – a process of empowerment and empowerment in the awareness of how we live and feel the feminine and masculine roles that have been imposed on us in society. And it is no coincidence that it was still represented here and there, in the days of Gender Practices that they last organized at the beginning of the year, for now, in Oiartzun.

“In the Basque Country there is a daring, provocative and contemporary scene, which in many cases is yet to be known” (Oier Guillan). If you have the opportunity, read it and listen to it, it's worth it and shake us sometimes.
