I sent three complaints in a very short time. It all happened within four or five months, perhaps earlier.

I sent three complaints, saying that I was collecting the documents that made me angry: if I did not speak anything Basque, or if I received communication media of a symbolic nature, an invitation to be precise, an electronic newsletter and a colorful luxury magazine, some of which are broadcast on a massive scale to all the citizens, the same ones that are printed in thousands of copies.

I sent them to the House of the People. It could be from my country, but from any other nation, and any other public conformation, because it's not our fault. I may have done so before, I do not know why now, surely because I have been satisfied, tired of waiting for the promised change and it must always appear once.

I live in this town, here I am voting, here I pay taxes, here I work, here are the children at the ikastola, we are the users of the leisure offer here, I will see those here when I need something. And the only thing I hope of this chronic monolingual service is that, one day, it does something for this Basque speaker, at least in the media and in the declarations of intent that are made from time to time, so that the measures and guidelines that are officially decided are respected. Not so much: we have not long dared to ask for bilingualism, we are able to settle for less.

They say that there are people who do not have much patience; the system is long to change, not so many years have passed and there is already progress. Yes, they do exist, but they are not obvious and most are not. The administrative system is full of obstacles, poor wills and inertia. Just as we would hear that carabination would be complicated. Criticism is not a good thing either, but a few insignificant steps must be highlighted.

It's hard to be criticized, it's harder to live in silent frustration. It is not what is told, but it is a tangible reality, it is not an impression: the Basques do not have many opportunities to collect things in our language that were five or ten years ago. We are still outside the informative and cultural circuit. Here the languages fight and the Basques have their usual place in the trench.

The tiniest speeches don't excite me anymore. We can say that there are measures, resources, policies, we can try to believe that the loss of speakers – which has obviously been bleeding for decades, that we have very little to lose today – has remained, that the Basque is about to die. What will remain of our children's generation if it is not a partial, poor, odd language? How many periods of Euskaraldia, Deiadar, will be necessary for a significant change to take place? How many structures and budgets to respond to the emergency?

We know that simple complaints are of no use, that being aggressive only strengthens resistance. I mean, we don't make friends along this road. What else could I do? Some behaviors deserve a public denunciation, simply, wherever and where you can: here, in the columns, in the social networks, in the forums.

I will continue my homework as a chinarrero, because I have no choice. I sent three complaints and nothing happened. Imagine: I have not received any answer.
