A "fiscal shield" with little solidarity
- The PNV and the PSE, with the help of pp, have reactivated unsupportive tax support or “the tax shield” for the wealthiest in Gipuzkoa, while at the same time reducing aid to avoid dependence on 4,330 families. That is true.
The General Boards of Gipuzkoa have taken the first step to repeal the Tax on Great Fortunes and Wealth established by the previous foreign government team. This measure is part of the new system of taxation that is to be imposed and will benefit employers, who, among other things, have succeeded in reducing the rate of corporate tax.
The report of the tax reform confirms that 875 people will enjoy the "fiscal shield" and that they will bring an average of EUR 38.000 less to the Gipuzkoa estate. A bloody and scandalous fact: the 38 richest people in this territory – with a wealth of more than EUR 12.8 million – will save EUR 15 million without having to resort to public coffers. The Hacienda foral will give the Gipuzkoa superrials an average of EUR 408,316 a year. Meanwhile, 16,697 people – 4,330 families – who need help to avoid dependency have suffered cuts: between EUR 300 and EUR 1,000 per year.
It is untrue that there is no money for the public purse and that social cuts must therefore be made; we are seeing it in Gipuzkoa. These parties serve privileged parties with their tax policies. Protesters against the cutbacks have no reason to shout, “This is a robbery!”: “There is no lack of money, there are burglars.”
