Opening of cider season
I'm from Hernani. Sidrero. Most of the women I've met in the 20 years that I've played handball, including the great international athletes, enjoyed as much as I did in the blackboard when we celebrated the victories, or when we fostered the feeling of team between barrels. And we continue to maintain the tradition of going together to the syllabus. I also know female reefs, footballers, judokas, pelotaris, canoeists, surfers, etc., who love cider and cider.
However, I was struck by the fact that in the various opening events of this year’s cider season, and especially in those involving men from many sports – all of whom I respect and admire – women, sportsmen and women, and women who have made great strides in other areas of society, are hardly seen. Why? Is there not a woman worthy of such honor around us? Although intentionally, I find it difficult to believe that there is not a single female athlete, even more difficult if I remember the results obtained in recent months by many of them.
It has drawn my attention to the fact that in the various opening events of the cider season, and especially in those involving men from different sports, there are hardly any women.
Why?
If we close our eyes and hear the word sportsman, what image comes to mind? When we say that in order to promote the equality of women and men in sport, in the media, on the streets, in special events, in schools, and in all places, we must make women athletes visible, among other things, we refer to the need to break the traditional cooptation of sport and the male image; we talk about the importance of women of all ages, and in particular young girls, being able to have models; we talk about how to improve quality.
Unfortunately, the beginning of this cider season has shown the image that women in this field are not wise, strange or, at most, second-level invitees. However, it must be borne in mind that this fact is merely an example of what happens time and time again in all areas of the sociedad.El first step in changing the mental representation of the protagonists of the public sphere of society is practical action, guaranteeing women the right to participate in
a public space that has always been denied us. And I think there's some privileged or unconscious who have more responsibility for the custody of this right than women.
