The United States War Council commissioned him to call on women to represent in industry the men on the front lines. After the war was over, the image was forgotten. But in the 1980s, the riveting Rosie -- they call the poster character, Rosie the Riveter-- became reinforced and become an icon of feminism.
After six years of research work, in 2016, James J. Kimble found the real woman behind Rosie: Naomi Parker Fraley. He began working in the war industry at the age of 20, and died on January 23, at the age of 96.
