A team of researchers from the University of Cambridge has completed the first eclipse recorded in the year 320 a. It happened on October 30, 1207, according to the journal Astronomy & Geophysics. To reach this conclusion, two sources have been used: on the one hand, the Old Testament of the Bible, in particular the Book of Joshua, points out that the Sun and the Moon “stopped”; on the other, an engraving of the reign of Pharaoh Merneptah, son of Ramses II.aren, points out that there was a singular astronomical phenomenon during the Canaan campaign. Researchers believe that this was not a total solar eclipse, but a ring eclipse, and that the given date is the only one that responds to those characteristics.
