The one who doesn't move doesn't feel the chains. And he who chained you will tell you that you are free until you have tried to leave. If anyone had any doubts, the Catalan affair has made it clear what Spain is on the right and left.
Right. In Spain it does not command the right, in Spain it commands the extreme right. The spirit of Franco has shown us again in recent weeks. The constitution was made by the lead of the rifles of the dictatorship, and it serves to unite the peoples and disguise themselves as a democracy under military command. The Spanish capital has welcomed the most reactionary colonizing and authoritarian nationalisms. To confess the truth, the images are scary.
Carles Puigdemont has not made the proclamation of the republic that was expected, as he has preferred to postpone the consequences of the declaration of independence and give a final opportunity for dialogue. If it serves to legitimize the process for the international community, let it be welcomed, but the risks are obvious and the steps must be speedy.
Left. In Spain there is no left for the unity of Spain. Until it accepts the self-determination of peoples, it will dance to the rhythm of the right. If the process for the independence of Catalonia has proved anything, that is: In the Spanish State, today, inevitably, the path of freedom must be one-sided or not. According to the Government of Spain and the sociological reality in which they find themselves, claiming a negotiated solution amounts to saying that nothing is done. In addition to not showing solidarity, they have tried to delegitimize a people working to regain their sovereignty, a sign that they share the same colonial idea of the nation-state leading the right. Among other things, the television channel La Sexta, which allegedly uses the discourse of the left, seems to be Intereconomics when dealing with Catalan issues. The only thing you could expect from a chain that depends on the Planet Group is that founder José Manuel Lara, who fought on the Francoist side, will be happy. The Spanish television channels are television channels that unite the 1978 regime.
In the terrifying Spain described, President Carles Puigdemont has accepted the results of the referendum and has taken over the mandate of the citizens to make Catalonia an independent republic. However, it has not made the proclamation of the republic that was expected, as it has preferred to postpone the consequences of the declaration of independence and to give a final opportunity for dialogue. If it serves to legitimize the process for the international community, let it be welcomed, but the risks are also obvious and the steps to be taken will be quicker. Although it can be a smart strategy, if you have reached where you have arrived it is because you have disobeyed the orders of the Spanish judges and governments and have made progress on your own, according to the people of Catalonia. A bilateral solution, however difficult and almost impossible, can only be a consequence of bringing the unilateral path to the extreme. Spain knows that it has nothing to offer for Catalonia to decide to remain democratic. Repression and fear are the only language they know, they're also monolingual.
We lack many chapters of this exciting path that the Catalan people have embarked on towards independence, but we can certainly be on the verge of the end of the 78 regime and that opens a path to the “Basque herdits”. We seem to look like cows on the train. If living in Spain is already unsustainable, let us imagine a Spanish state without Catalonia. Well, if we don't want to suffer, we'll also have to start moving, even if it's to feel chains.
