TAV: shame and responsibilities
  • The Basque Government, despite being invited five months earlier, did not wish to attend a round table on the TAV. Do you feel embarrassed and ashamed of that waste?

Every government has to defend all citizens, not just those they have chosen. The problems encountered in this society should be discussed before any decision is taken. But the CAV Government does not seem to have any intention of doing so, on the contrary, it appears that it has been at the service of a small part of society. I am referring to the serious problem we have with the APR, which is using billions of euros from the taxpayer, even though its future is still unknown to us. The implementation of the APR has been disrupted over and over again, breaking over and over again what has been promised.

Last week, the Basque Government, despite being invited five months earlier, refused to attend a round table on the TAV. Professors, engineers and trade unionists participated. What shame should this administration have in order not to want to defend its position in favor of the Basque Y… Is it uncomfortable and embarrassed in the face of waste? Perhaps because the day of the continuation of the works and the start of the train is being delayed? Are you afraid to face up to other opinions, knowing that an additional EUR 52 million will be needed to solve the problems encountered in the 11 tunnels? Do you not want to hear the economic and technical reasons for this millionaire project which say that it is only at the service of the cement lobby and the engineering industry?

It is a disgrace that in these times of heavy social cuts the Basque Government continues to use our public money to spend it on this anti-social, anti-economic and anti-environmental infrastructure. Furthermore, it does not want to face public opinion in order to justify its position. They are too ashamed and too accountable to hide them.
