You can't stand still
  • Chronicle of the Bumaye performance: Cabezafuego and Beatriz Sánchez, on March 31 in the Apollo of Vitoria-Gasteiz, starting at 20:00 hours.

Bumaye. This is how you could read it on the posters from afar. There are still people who look at the billboards. That, and that was organized by Triangle in Apollo. These last two names were enough to introduce the desire to go to the quotation, as the friends of the Triangle are organizing one of the most interesting concert series of recent times: small-format, usually acoustic, concerts in the basement of a bar, and where silence is required to the audiencia.Sin yet, we approached the poster – we did not settle for the mere Bumaye-, reading that Cabezasánchez and
Beatriz were meeting For us: “To know what they are going to bring us this time.” Indeed, the only one we knew could not be hooked on one yoke: Atom Rhumba, Mermaid, Basque Country Pharaons, Bizardunak, Royal Canal... are other projects of this artist. [In this same journal, Iker Barandiaran reviews his trajectory in an interview with the musician].
Everyone who has been there knows that in the performances in which Cabezafuego participates there is usually a show. Without order or logic, Navarro represents songs, comments, dances, performances... as if he had been affected by a hyperactivity on the table. Chaos, apparently. You saw it all in improvisation, and I'm convinced it is largely, and that makes every performance different, attractive. And, of course, he has humor – especially self-parody – in all the iskins.
So was Apollo's performance. Basically, the songs of Somos Drogas, which I had not published yet. He gave the player the play and played these songs with the keyboard. In his words, as if he were in Cabezafuego Benidorm. In the case of Beatriz/Beatroz Sánchez: with the help of a projector and performing video clips in collage with various photographs, toys and other jewelry. Really.
In the songs, also said by the musician himself, he enters with people, although he wanted to make a love album. He leaves no one safe and, as he said in a song a few years ago, he has a desire to say “the emperor is without a suit”: above humor, parody and the apparent inconsistencies, or below, over society and, more specifically, over those over a certain age. And all of that in elegant songs. Within chaos there is order.
In addition to the songs, Beatriz’s images gave a more surreal touch to what Cabezafuego, a toy, has on its own. It seemed like a way to dress me beautifully. Proof of this is that the video of the presentation of the album Somos Maco has been made by himself.
So Cabezafuego is on the road. Under the name of Bumaye, with the band, alone... I wouldn't miss the opportunity to see this artist who can't stand still. And if you get a chance to repeat it, you're lucky.
