Welcome migrants to our country
Itziar Bardaji Goikoetxea 2017ko apirilaren 26a

Social media has shaken for a year and a half the image of a Syrian child killed on a beach. The baby was too white for European eyes, more touching than the thousands of children and black adults drowned for years in the Mediterranean.

Since then, the old Europe which is trying to maintain economic hegemony by exploiting immigrants and not arrived, has closed its doors with more strength, stricter concertins, higher fences, longer ones.

Xenophobic messages mix with the news about terrorist attacks and Republican Republicans. We assume that foreigners are more dangerous, more macho, more robbers. Drop by drop the water can pierce the stone.

We respond firmly to this. All citizens have the same powerful oppressors and elites and racist discourse wants to separate popular power by country: by color, atomize by language, oppose and weaken. So let's stay.

However, beyond the discourse, we have to build a mestizo organized Left that is a reflection of the reality of our towns and cities. At the moment, we have not managed to collaborate with neighbors with curious surnames, we have not come to them. When?

A reflection on the Ongi Etorri Gernika 2017 conference to be held this weekend.
