When I first heard the name of this group, Oh!, which has been so long present in Mondragon and has spread in other counties of Euskal Herria. I imagined another stage project. Later, listening to the songs, I realized that this group in the Irun area has very little tradition and, on the contrary, much more about putting upside down traditional concepts and multiplying criticism in us. In the Basque Country there are a few groups with a similar goal, very little – among the best known, Lendakaris Muertos and Cycles Iturgaiz –. They are often uncomfortable for some listeners, destructive for others, and for the other builders – destroyed before they build them – who smile.
About three years ago, BEÑAT Muguruza, Xabi Burgaña and Lander Bidaurre created the group with the intention of seeing concerts of other groups, of thinking that they also had something to say and of going up on a stage. And as the most important thing for them was the message -- what they meant -- and improvisation, they chose punk without going any further.
In the songs of the Irundarras, for example, we won't find Donald Trump, who has been talking about everyone for a long time. Instead, many more “domestic” are in the spotlight. And that, of course, influences the audience differently, accumulating followers and detractors. Although they may not accept it, they do not worship it, but they have a great influence on the punk of the 1980s that they have in the blood – references closer to La Polla, Scar, Dead Kennedys or hardcore. Although they say that they make punk simple, punk is quick and dark, which often remains in the shadow of words.
In the Hononym published in 2015 “The struggle is the only highway”, “Urquijo de puta”, “The only Basque Nobel, Erramon and Kaxal”, “Forgive me if today I am not enough an indetion dentist”, “Recite 3 Eusko Gudari” and “We are all Coca-Cola” sang rigorously in the new work. So, from “Egin smiles, we’re going to win ETA,” they’re trying to “ETB off the antenna” remembering Julian Iantzi, increasing the Africa Baeta-ISIS ratio and “The Northern Deer.” On the contrary, despite requests by Olano and Itxaso not to reject refugees, they are convinced that “Sunday DV will give organic soap.” In addition, it is anthological that the Durango Fair and the Palentino Center have been honored with the posture as a central theme. And as for all of them, the students (Bologna is not a plan), the folk venal of Iparralde (Larrepetit) and the “tic machistas” have also been the protagonists.
