The smallest army
  • Today, the smallest official army in the world is the Swiss Vatican Guard: 100 members. But earlier there have been smaller armies, and they've been involved in the war. In 1866, Liechtenstein entered the Austral-Prussian War on the side of the Confederation, and an army of 80 men was sent to fight against the Italians who headed Garibaldi.

They did not enter into direct struggle, and once the short and quiet participation was over, they returned without casualties. Legend has it that on the way back an Austrian officer decided to join them, that is, it was 80 to the war and it was 81 to the lap. Two years later the army was dissolved and since then the little prince is neutral.
