The corrector was a well-known figure in the media, both in Spanish and in Basque. I am not referring to these computer correctors, but to human beings of flesh and bone. I said "Zen," because I don't know if it still exists. It doesn't look like that, because the mistakes I usually read and listen to almost every day are huge in the media. Perhaps due to the crisis, cost savings have made the managers of the work teams disappear.
Last week I read in the EITB newsletter the following headline: “Felipe González is misled by Pedro Sánchez.” I thought it was very serious
I could explain a lot of anecdotes about correctors. Calm! I'm not going to talk to you but one. When I was young, there was a very well-known, very Euskaldun announcer at Popular Radio in Bilbao. Although the session was in Spanish, he was trying to use the Basque language more and more. The case is that someone told him that in Bizkaino he says “he has”, but in Basque right he says “he is”. So after a while he began to say: “This listener wants to hear.” To improve her, I would make her worse, I would cure her. We should call that correction or falsehood without correction. For years I was collaborating in the Egin newspaper, writing reports (freelance) and, above all, columns. I have often been angry about alleged corrections. Once, for example, I put him “killed” (because he wanted to kill him) and he, the corrector, erases “killing” and substitutes him “grinding” (if he had been “crazy”, half wrong! ). Again, something like this: I look, he takes it away and I write “mirako”. I still don't understand why I was doing those things. It was not a question of corrections, but of hypercorrections, because that is what is said in rectifying what is right. You realize that I have not mentioned any names, because I have a respect that he has not shown me.
Why do I mean all of this now? Because last week I read in the EITB newsletter the following headline: “Felipe González is misled by Pedro Sánchez.” I thought it was very serious. As I said before, unfortunately I see it and hear it often, but in a public medium and in a written headline I found it excessive, among other things, because one of the objectives of EITB is precisely to promote the Basque Country and, without saying so, to take care of it. I believe that correctors are necessary. But there is always some “but”. Yes, they are necessary, but if they just do their job. In other words, to correct what is wrong – always with the respect that is due to anyone, of course – and not because he does not like it, or why, things have been so joyfully changed.

I received your e-mail in personal mail on the strike portals. At first, like many others, I thought it was to let you know what options we have in the face of the strike. But no, the e-mail received was a political and communicative movement against the strike.

This weekend I've been thinking about the word 'aesthetic' in relation to a phrase said by a friend: “This work is aesthetic.” I have studied the etymology of the word aesthetic, it seems that its meaning was originally perceived through the senses, and it was later associated... [+]

The other day in Bilbao, I met a friend at the Bira bar. We were very happy at the Tar and I said: “Of course, since you’re Guipúzcoa, hahahaha.” And he insisted that he was not Guipuzcoan. Without me understanding it, I kept saying, “Ah! Is it not? You were born in New... [+]

I just saw a series from another sad detective. All the plots take place on a remote island in Scotland. You know how these fictions work: many dead, ordinary people but not so many, and the dark green landscape. This time it reminded me of a trip I made to the Scottish... [+]

Life surrounds everything, it is limited and fragile. To live good lives, it seems to me that the body knows what to do, while the mind, although it knows (when it is well informed), often sees the body deliberately silence. In this silence the mind opens itself to relations... [+]
