Álava will punish companies that relocate their work
The Member will punish companies that in Álava relocate their jobs and reduce the number of workers by 35%. This has been agreed in the Treasury Plenary of the Provincial Council of Álava. EH Bildu submitted 20 amendments to the foral rule, since the definition of relocation was the foral government. The objective of EH Bildu was that this definition should be included in the foral standard itself, and that was agreed in plenary.
Thus, relocation entails a significant reduction in economic activity and the relocation of the same activity in the three previous or subsequent years. The other factor to be taken into account is the 35% reduction in the number of workers in the company.
From now on, when such cases occur, the company will have to repay the subsidies received and in eight years it will not be able to receive public aid.
Without agreement in the conflict between the residences of Bizkaia
On the other hand, after two weeks of strike in the nursing homes of Bizkaia, there is still no continuity solution. The trade union ELA and the three employers in the sector (LARES, ELBE and GESCA) sat around the negotiating table for the strike launched on 21 September. ELA described the motion for a resolution by the latter as “irresponsible and disrespectful”. According to the union, if the employers' proposal were adopted, workers would lose purchasing power in 2016 and increase by 0.7% in 2017. “The wage would not improve or 6 euros in two years,” they said in a statement. Working time, for its part, would be reduced by two hours a year.
ELA pointed out that this year 32 days of strike took place in the residences of Bizkaia and have been in the negotiations for one year. In this context, they consider the offer made by employers unacceptable: “Key issues such as ratios and workloads involved in increasing the number of workers for direct care have been omitted.” According to ELA, a study carried out by the employers themselves reveals the lack of personnel and the losses that this entails for the users of the Gipuzkoan plant.
After the failure of the last negotiating session, the union has announced that it will decide on the forthcoming mobilizations to be convened in the Basque Country.
