That's what happens in the musical landscape of Euskal Herria. Although the tip of the iceberg is under the spotlights and on the surface of the water in the sight of all, the rest of the scene is inadvertent if we do not put our heads under the water. And who is curious and eager to “get wet” and explore what’s below? Well, unfortunately, few people. But we tucked our arm to the elbow and pulled one of them out, as usual.
I learned without realizing this quartet and after checking that his DNA and his seven surnames are in Usurbil, I realized that although the members of this group are young they are old dogs. In particular, the four are the main protagonists of the musical initiative that has been carried out in recent years in this Gipuzkoan locality. Izeberg's background is rock group Odolaren Mintzoa, heavy Pentecost Itxua and thrash-metaler Hotzikara. The seven songs that make up the album have been recorded in the same town, in the elegant Higain studio, led by Haritz Harreguy. Why, then, go outside, being so luxurious professionals in the people themselves? The mixture of songs was carried out by Juan Hidalgo, who has a close relationship with Harreguy, at the Mastertips Mastering in Madrid.
These musicians have wanted to take a leap further and have introduced the heavy style of the past and the crudety of thrash into compositions with rounded melodies, to well-soaked rock melodies. Gordeleku is a pop-rock song with energy, bright, very clean and also drinking hard rock and heavy. The way of singing reminds me of the Gorosabel brothers (Su Ta Gar / EH Sukarra). In the veins, he throws himself whispering in tones similar to those of Lorelei, but with intensity he almost clothed himself from Governors and in his inner desert riffs. It's elegant! Har(r)iak also lives the development itself, and from the pope, knows the power-pop, tastes the hard rock and passes to the wah-wah, smelling it. It is transformative and oppressive in someone’s mind from the moment the idea emerged: low penetrating, “killer” guitar and with metal intervals and stoners. At the door there is a sour ballad with the cadence of the heavy carried in the blood, although it also assumes the metal melodic hardcore. The blackout stars also take their place thras-metal. And finally, Insomnia Night is an adventure between playful rock and heavy. To write the words, however, they have appealed to the authorities outside Usurbil. They were assisted by Beñat Gaztelumendi, Haritz Casabal and Jokin Labayen.
