We lose ourselves with a dream of opacity, of vexity, in this society that we intend to rise up as a spectacle of wind: we bring out the ikurriñas, pins, three-color stickers to the facts or manifestations that are announced. And we're proud of their reasons. We cannot deny that white and green are doing us well, especially when we talk about sport.
But I believe that, sometimes, along the lines of the poet Eduard Glissant of Martinique, it is good to abandon identity and roots to enjoy the anonymity and foreign character of any other living being in the world. So we are no longer the problems, we are not responsible for the roots and for the language, we are not forced to be attractive, we are not where we are expected. We can escape the severe shadow of self-control and we have no one to hate at the last moment.
Sometimes being Basque is exhausting for us and for those who cross us. We are always dealing with the suffering we have suffered (we have not tolerated it) over the centuries, rather than being lighter, more forgotten and indifferent.
But personality is more than serious, deeper, superficial.
And vice versa.
