Corporate intelligence develops coordination, flexibility, balance, speed, intuition, skill, strength, flexibility, concentration, music, the connection between body and mind and creativity. The same characteristics as contemporary dance.
The dancer Isabel Verdini was driven by the birth of her niece Haizea, with Down syndrome, to create a company that has protagonists like her: Verdini Dantza Taldea. Its objective is to facilitate the development of “hidden” capacities and to remove borders, as well as to improve self-esteem and facilitate social integration.
“With the red curtain as a framework for your dreams. Because every step taken is a big leap.” Beñat Gaztelumendi, taking intellectual disability as its main theme, sang at Barakaldo’s BEC in 2013 since the selection of bertsos.
The dancers Nekane Prieto and Nerea Astarbe have no hesitation: they are artists and have the capacity for art. They have also told us that they were applauded and flattered. “They always tell me I dance very well. The other time they gave us flowers,” says Astarbe. They say it has been an opportunity to meet people and make new friends, as they have been dancing together for a while: “We are many on the team. I started when I was 15 and I am 23,” Astarbe said. “I’m 33 and I’ve been around for ten years,” says Prieto. They've added that they prefer to dance in groups rather than individually, because together they all have "more strength."
Contemporary dance is based on the expression of feelings and emotions and this was transmitted to us when we saw them in dance: attitude and willingness to work, enthusiasm and feeling. According to Gardner, they also develop another type of intelligence: the musical intellectual. Astarbe also tells us that he touches the pandero. The music and the selected letters help to emerge your emotions: “I am very romantic,” one. “I am happy dancing,” others.
“They’ve gone onstage. Alturara, theater. And for the first time, they've stood up." Gaztelumendi
But dance isn't just movement and feeling. We've been told that this physical exercise needs work. To do so, every Monday and Saturday, several warming activities are carried out. Likewise, to work on technical and artistic quality, it has been worked in a “serious, rigorous and constant” way. “We run a bit, then we sit on the floor and stretch: we open our legs, we tilt our head to the knees, we do abs…”, the dancers tell us with words and gestures. “We get tired, but it’s worth it.
“The potentialities of art come to everyone. There is a shortage who cannot understand this,” Gaztelumendi.
