If the poems subtracted to water (Susa, 2014) were the philosophical poetry that leaves intellectualization and excites the heart, and some of its reflections spread a fine orientalism, in this Arrotz eta eder (Susa, 2016) Pako Aristi joins the unembraced embrace of the universe with a daily attitude, simple but in the daring background: “When have we been more beautiful than today?” Six of the snow, creature of the taos, companion of the desire to live, lover of all the words of the rain,/ who I am, after the terror of being / overcome”.
The biggest jail is often the image we have of ourselves.
He who overcomes shame and taboo, on the contrary, has the key to death: his soul will be eternal, because he does not care that it rains or that it is clear, he thanks both effortlessly.
The one that allows the odizer to hate is he who has the key to the conflict: he cannot spend his ego, because he does not have it.
That is why Aristi has in this book that obsession with the word, to convey the humility of the experience, not the discourse of the sage. That is why Aristi has chosen for this book a rhythm similar to a mantra, a current that goes through everything, that honors beauty and peace.
Today I've been sitting on a bench with a white sun and a hot cloud. I read and it seemed to me that it was one of those sacred books. Qualification may harm what I mean, but I think this book goes beyond content, has a kind of power, which is not based on the waste of language and images, but on acceptance and nudity: “From beginning to end,/ blossom and wilt,/ and meanwhile is the time we have been given/ is enjoyment/ is the wisdom of the body” or “I just have your first thought of the morning/ and I love you of the night/ I love you silently,/ on the coordinates of that bow/ sit comfortably,/ make two knots about balance/ and this life/ – as I have always done –/ not to pass or sit.
We've all felt what Aristi feels from time to time, with the difference that he knows the voice of the heart, which is the only one that speaks the universe. And you too, reader. When you're present, with a good book in your hand, tell the truth. You don't have to understand a single word, just enjoy it: it's peculiar.
