About three weeks ago, the Donostiarra newspaper El Diario Vasco dedicated about four pages and cover to a film that could be called to become the next success of the Basque film. The question of the language of the film was put to me in the brain, as a consequence of one of the tendencies of Castilian towards Euskera that could be the title Aundiya, of one of them that does not read in Euskera, “I have always heard aundiya”, or of that inexplicable added value that we were currently giving to the Basque that is more ignorant, authentic, sincere, expressive, that it seems that in the communication.
Knowing the signatory, I probably wouldn't have looked at the language option and I couldn't imagine writing a word like aundiya, letter by letter, without asking myself what it was like. As I knew him, I could call him and ask him what language he was in. But I felt very quiet. Even today, the Basques, committed to the first word, are unable to make a clear decision from the first word. I was even ashamed to explain to him the linguistic doubts and philosophical concerns that might exist for the good title of the film.
