Mikel Uraken has only used voice and guitar to record her latest work, a vinyl record with seven songs. She sings raw and exciting songs, makes beautiful drawings with the guitar and sings honestly from the heart. His songs show pain, helplessness and despair. “I sing it from the heart, but above all from the viscera. I believe that our own experiences condition us in our daily lives. In my case, I use these experiences as a starting point for creative work. I want to make crudety something appealing. For the result of the work to be honest, it must be related to nature itself.”
His songs are rooted in the roots of the Basque folk, but from there he has tried to find new roads, other branches of the same trunk. “I can honestly say that I have tried to connect with the roots of this people. Also, the characteristics of my personal personality have been added (I am Euskaldun berri and I have a bad musical vision), and it is the result of this after Winter. So we can say it's the sum of me and my environment. On the one hand, I made this album known as a small contribution to the Basque culture, and on the other, I wanted to reflect the empowerment of the Euskaldunberris”.
Mikel Uraken has been the creator of the melodies and has had the help of Mikel Vega to write the lyrics of the song. The recording was performed in the Garate de Andoain study in July 2015. The sound technician has been Kaki Arkarazo, and the producer Javi Letamendia. The design and the photographs have been made by Asier García Azkue.
He has published the album on his own. As I have the fully internalized thought of do it yourself, I didn't think I could do otherwise. The production of cars can be economically dangerous, but being able to control the distribution of the drive is a luxury more than a problem.”
Mikel Uraken is a native of the Santutxu Bilbaíno district. He started playing in the Loan metal group a decade ago, and then published the works Folk songs for tormented souls (2013) and Omenaldi xumeak (2014), before the album Neguaren Berbak (2014) was formed.
