According to the interpretation given by Bernardo Atxaga to this old copla “Txantxangorria txantxate, birigarroa errexoa ibilan, txepetxa preso bat egin”, the txantxangorri is a symbol of the new year, as we cannot see it all year, but in December, around us, and listen to his affection. Being the symbol of the new year is nice, but throughout the year it barely appears, and in an increasingly popular, increasingly unknown, exotic society.
It is also said that Jesus Christ was nailed to the cross, that he had been pulling his thorns, and that the drop of Jesus’ blood had remained on the chest, that is why it is red to pin. However, the strength of this expression is insignificant in our days.
It's a small, lonely, individualistic bird. We live between three and four years, as in the current legislature. The CAV’s linguistic policy makers have therefore chosen, as a symbol of the Basque country, a small isolated, individualist bird that is little known in today’s citizen life and totally unknown to the majority of citizens.
The invitation is made to this humble Basque represented as a small bird, to fly with small birds like him and reach the limit of the sky, the heaven of salvation of the Basque.
With the help of yesterday’s txantxangorri “it’s not enough” we have moved to “Eman hegoak euskarari”: “As you fly together, the vertigo goes. (...) Together, the border of the sky is not so far away. You hear a higher word among them, like the flight of hundreds of birds. This is our symbol, the symbol of all. Invitation to speak in Basque”.
The invitation is made to this humble Basque represented as a small bird, to fly with small birds like him and reach the limit of the sky, the heaven of salvation of the Basque Country, and, to worship him, he is told that this border is not far away. What emotions will the campaign create in the erdaldun living in Euskal Herria? Mercy? Indifference?
For the hundreds and thousands of birds to fly together, the first requirement is the universalization of the knowledge of the Basque Country, first through teaching, and the implementation of the necessary policies for it – reinforcing and expanding model D; because A is a fraud, and B is also, because in a large percentage it is incapable!–. On the other hand, what we need motivators, people who will create the desire to speak in Basque. What an urgent need would be a large network of motivators that will encourage students to speak in Basque, not forgetting the most restricted areas of all: Osakidetza, Ertzaintza, Justice and State Administration.
Without waiting for the long-term objectives to be met, we Basques are flying longer and longer and into larger and larger areas, with more and more small birds. We need bolder institutional campaigns, objectives and resources!

Euskaraldia comes back. Apparently, it will be in the spring of next year. They have already presented it and the truth is that it has surprised me; not Euskaraldia himself, but his motto: We'll do it by moving around.

Many at Christmas feel more lazy than illusion when we think about meals and family gatherings. But we anticipate that it is not food that makes us feel collectively uncomfortable, but the normativity that defines the traditional family. Moreover, we would dare to say that the... [+]
