The elections of the Spanish State have already taken place and the citizens have elected their political representatives for investiture. Government must now be formed. In the absence of a clear winner, negotiations will begin between the parties. It is well known that the programmes are not the same, especially as regards economic, fiscal, labour and social policy. When forming government, there are institutions and bodies that want to condition the process and impose their interests, even if they have not been elected by the public. There are the stock exchange, the rating agencies, the International Monetary Fund, the employers and all their media front (press, radio, television channels…).

These institutions have not been democratically elected, but they have already started their work and are not going to give up their objective: to have a government that is subject to its interests. The stock exchange, which is the main expression of capitalism, with its ups and downs, has opened the way to the right. Rating agencies Ficht and Moody’s, as an arm of capitalism, have also warned of the risks of “weak governments or extremists.” Both the employers and the main national and international press have advocated a large coalition between pp, PSOE and Citizens to deepen the policy of austerity and social cuts, as the Rajoy Government has done so far. The European Union and the IMF are moving in the same direction.

As long as the left-wing alternative is not consolidated, which is currently very separate in the state and in Europe, governments will be nothing more than mere managers of capital. A strong left-wing alternative, despite the difficulties, would better cope with the financial and economic powers that have not been elected by the citizens.
