A ghost travels through Europe, the ghost of the extreme right. It is not just a French problem, it is a phenomenon that is spreading in many countries in Europe in general. The left is offside. Low classes and beatings by capitalist globalization are increasingly giving support to the extreme right. The National Front (FN), as in the European Parliament elections, won the French regional elections in the first round. All divine Gauche is fluttered. How is such intolerance possible?

Globalization has led to the growth of inequalities. For those who suffer from poverty, the crisis is not a temporary thing, but a way of life. On the contrary, the upper middle classes and workers with stable and well-paid jobs in the remains of the welfare state have not noticed the total cruelty of the crisis. There are not a few who spend a weekend in Berlin, a bridge in New York and holidays in Malaysia. In single-family homes and in the loft of the coot-district, it is not usual for your neighbors to put music at 2 a.m. They are proud to practice tolerant multiculturalism from afar, of course. It is said that it is a lost battle for the left of Burgesturi to attack neoliberalism, and well, they have not gone so badly, so now they hold the left-wing ideology in post-materialist and post-modern values. In this sense, they love diversity a lot while occupying little space in their daily lives.

For example, the relationship with the university or technical researchers of the immigrant company is very horizontal, as there are also classes among immigrants. On the contrary, working-class immigrant families are far away in the slums and public schools in the area. The burglar left will strongly criticise the “lack of culture and tolerance” of other workers competing with immigrants for economic aid and work. They are far from the simple idea that Marx has put forward: the unemployed (and now also immigrants) are the army of the bourgeoisie to lower the price of the labour force. Far from this reality, those who vote for Marine Le Pen call them, with contempt, racist.

By counties, if we look at the map of France, the strength of the Fn shows a positive correlation with social inequalities, increasing poverty and unemployment, more weight of the Fn in the elections. While the extreme right is represented among the workers, the unemployed and the young, among the upper-middle classes is the underrepresented. That is why the simple demonization of the National Front fuels the phenomenon. On the one hand, a unique thought that serves to consolidate itself: we all have to unite against the phantom and, therefore, the left will have to swallow a few toads (many) to face the phantom. On the other hand, FN remains the only alternative to change, monopolizing critical thinking to cope with the current socioeconomic situation.

Meanwhile, normal parties embrace warmongering and implement the Fn's security agenda. The left, on the other hand, avoids, with the discourse on human rights and tolerance, pointing out the class problem behind the rise of the FN. The most effective way to undress is to make proposals to regain sovereignty from the left, stressing the need for redistribution of wealth and recovering the flags of anti-mperialism and pacifism.
