Perhaps the usual cultural myths in Russia are in decline, but, even if so, after having been so high, the current situation is not delicate. You still notice that special touch of class. The quality of classic Russian ballets remains striking. Some Golden Age dancers still live, thanks to which the Eastern tradition is being transmitted.
Proof of this has been the performance of the Russian National Ballet held in Bilbao. The scenography wasn't very rich, the clothes. But the accuracy, the musicality, the taste… of the dancers are exceptional. Sergei Radchenko, a solo dancer at the Bolshoi Theatre for 25 years, and in 1976, Honorary Artist of the People of the USSR founded this group in 1989. He wanted to bring together the classic qualities of the big Russian dance companies (Kirov and Bolshoi mostly) into a new, independent company. Classic titles and choreographies work successfully. This is your signature feature. Maybe you should take some step forward to have a reference in the dance world. I mean, it's OK to work these classic works that the public loves so much, but my impression is that, recognizing that they offer good quality, they've stayed at a point of nostalgia and they should take it out to innovate and grow as a team.
On this occasion, they gave the beautiful Loti with the beautiful and melodious music of Tchaikovsky. Director Radtxenko devoted his attention to the recently deceased dancer Maia Plisetskaia, who was part of her dance partner for 20 years. As I have already said, with scarce means, he danced himself expressively and well counted. Marius Petipa's hyperclassical and expressionist choreography was well dominated by dancers. The group numbers just came out. But the most important moments were most pas à deux. Especially those carried out by the two protagonists. Alexandra Kriukova, in the character of Lotia, and Azamar Askarov, in the role of the prince, spoke of magic and romanticism. The dancer María Klyuleva also played a great role in the role of lover. In general, the 40 dancers who worked on the stage performed an attractive and technically perfect show. Lovely.
