The world we've lost
My mother and I, being young, went every week to the fountain called Bidarteko Kontresta. From there, one of the best waters off the North Coast for a week. One day, two or three years ago, my son and I went to the same source. There, upon arrival, we found no more than a banner. According to the banner, you could not drink what has been one of the best waters on the coast, because it was contaminated. We have never known who was to blame and stopped drinking water from Bidart. Now that we don't have confidence in Ziburu's public water, every week we're going to buy water to the supermarket, thinking that in this struggle to live they're always the same winners.
Otto and I, as a young man, ate every year sea spiders, percebes and lobsters. Once, one fall morning, Otto taught me lowly the secrets of the family. There were our treasures. There were our ways of doing it. There were our extraordinary provisions. One day I went to pick up barnacles, a damn voice told me that what we had been doing for a long time was forbidden. Our family's transmission got paralyzed, and my son wasn't given the legacy that the family had accumulated from generation to generation. I never knew who the burnt ones were, and I stopped eating the barrels of Biarritz.
My father and I, being young, were going to Getaria to surf the year. There, in the wasteless crystalline water, with its cloak, we saw blue sharks. After surfing, we would pick up snails and take them to share with pride in family to home. Now the blue sharks don't go through Getaria anymore, and they forbade us to pick up the sea snails like many other things. In a spring, I had angina five times followed by sea pollution. One, the last one, diagnosed with angina-steptoko, became a dissipated phlegm due to his poor care. I still remember the haircut of the otorhinolaryngologist. I never knew who was responsible for the pain I've experienced and left the wonderful waves of Getaria.
Today no longer like more peribes. I've ruled out surfing. The collection of marine snails has become a memory. But I've started doing something new. Researching the contemporary world. They made us finish the world forever by fighting the culprits.
The world we met has gone forever. We are facing an increasingly equal world. Awaiting the results of climate change. Waiting for the last immense hurricane that will forever destroy the world. Waiting for the Revelation.
