Irati Elorrieta was born in Algorta, next to the Autonomy Statute of the CAV. He grew up in his mother's womb and during those turbulent years that have been called years of lead. In the midst of the instability, there were rumours of a possible military coup, and what happened to the political flaws caused concern among their parents. The blow came when Irati Elorrieta was a one-year-old and two-month-old girl, with Antonio Tejero in the lead, luckily, without success.

In last year's Hezurrak novel by Unai Elorriaga Irene Arrieta thinks of Algorta, which has been the home of childhood and youth of Irati Elorrieta. Algorta thinks a little and, above all, violence. Authority, obedience and “many twenty-one year old soldiers are needed”. When Irene Arrieta thinks about violence, he also thinks about his recordings: “People die 40 centimeters from the eyes, bleeding, on a computer.” When Irati Elorrieta has read this book at the age of 35, for a few days it has been discussed when some images should be shown and when not. A wave has dragged to a beach in Bodrum the corpse of Ailan Kurdi, a three-year-old boy, who has cried when he was seen on television pictures. Irati Elorrieta has seen her youngest son, as although the drowned child had his own name and a reason for his death, he concealed the face of all the children lying on the Turkish beach. “The children who died yesterday, tomorrow the steam,” Elorriaga might write.

A month before last year's bones, Mikel Peruarena published His Zelaia, about the generation of Basque soldiers who went to die in the Great War. The crows and the mics ate the harvest that summer, some even singing, most of the men between 21 and 48 years old split up saying “Berlinerat!” Irati Elorrieta listened at the Berlin Museum of Ethnology a hundred years later to the recordings of the songs of the Basque soldiers captured by the Germans. The voice of the man who sang the Tree of Gernika impressed him greatly.

Irati Elorrieta has read almost a year after publishing the two novels, one after the other, in the weeks he has spent in Euskal Herria during the summer of 2015. In Syria and Iraq, and when thousands of people die on Europe's borders, four million people are estimated to be exiled. In Berlin, back on vacation and infected by the thoughts of Irene Arrieta, Boko Haram has read a report on Nigerian women who have been kidnapped and managed to escape. Thousands of people have been victims of the cruelty of this Islamist group, about one million people, fled. It's brutal what women count, what they've lived, what they've seen. On the cover of Zeitmagazine, in black and white contrast, half of the face in darkness and the other half illuminated, you see the 14-year-old Talatu. This portrait reminds Irati Elorrieta of the iconic cover of National Geographic magazine. In 1984, photographer Steve McCurry portrayed Sharbat Gula, a young Afghan woman looking directly at the observer, in a refugee camp in Pakistan.

Irati Elorrieta has a very special feeling: Stories, chronicles, images are never enough. There was a big gap to be filled, I couldn't understand.
