Pedagogy of independence

From Euskal Herria we continue with great admiration and attention the Catalan process. We do not know what is going to happen, we do not know whether the strategy of the right to decide is really effective in achieving independence and is about to see whether or not Catalonia will achieve the victory of Spanish imperialism. There are probably many reasons or keys why the independence process in Catalonia has advanced so much. Anyone who longs for the independence of Euskal Herria will often ask this question: “What has happened in Catalonia to catch that speed?” “What doesn’t happen in Euskal Herria to go so slow?” The Diada was held in the absence of sixteen days for 27 September and I had the opportunity to be there. It can be said that Catalonia is a people at the moment of realising the dream and, although many things can be said and highlighted, I would like to point out two aspects: the joy that the citizens reflect and the pedagogy that has been done to reach this situation. This year, the Via Lliure Group promoted the following choruses during the Central Event: “Via lliure: to democracy; to myth; to sustainability; to social justice; to diversitat; to solidarity; to solidarity; to equality; to territorial balance; to education; to culture”.

And all of this through independence. It is a series of phrases that explain in a simple and clear way the benefits of independence. They graphically express the benefits for Catalonia, and for any stateless nation, to govern itself. Both the public and private media and other actors express in their actions an explicit or implicit attitude towards independence. The representative sent to Europe said that Europe will recognise Catalonia as a state if the majority of citizens give their assent, and they have also made it clear.

The Catalans have often looked at us and it is now we who cannot take a look at Catalonia. No, they're not comparable, they're not comparable. But we Basques have become more docile. The road to independence must be turned on, and that is why the pedagogy of independence is essential. Two solid lines of argument: on the one hand the historical argument and on the other the advantage of having the power to determine ourselves. Euskal Herria needs independence to survive. The euphemisms must be set aside and pedagogy must be started without shame.
