(erre)productive work
From feminisms we often claim that reproductive work is valued, at least, and also, as the productive one. In society, it is often said that it is productive work that we need to survive, that is, what is done in exchange for money, what gives us status, therefore, what is happening in the public sphere, what is due to recognition, and what is absolutely masculine. But not the reproductive, that is, care, delivery, food preparation, the organization of needs... the feminine and the silenced.
And while I understand that conceptual distribution, I'm increasingly convinced that it sucks. Because it has been understood that, in the midst of this crisis, we have mysteriously survived those reproductive works, despite the completion of all these productive works. Is it not, after all, the reproductive, the really productive? Is it the same life that produces and maintains it? What about the reproductive system, which is done through more mechanical reproduction so that this heterocapitalist system can survive? What has kept us in wage slavery, who knows who to benefit from?
Is it not time, as Valerie Solanas once said, to call the works by their name, so that the qualities of the genders are altered?
