Streets and nights
Only 10 percent of the plates that give our streets their name bear the name of a woman. Within this percentage are the “women that no one knows”, the “popular names” that appear without surnames, and how not, the saints, nuns and virgins.
We have often been laughed at the need we have to occupy public space, soaked with hysteria, that our eagerness for recognition is an excess. And although I don't like statistics, today's data doesn't support responses.
Likewise, in Hernani we have recovered Andre Street, not only with little sweat. I would only like to congratulate those who have fought for so many years and all of us who have met along the way.
But since the streets will not only be made through plates, on March 14, women will also have the opportunity to take the streets of Hernani in another way. In fact, the sexist excesses of the era of quarrying, the baboseum and the rest will have to listen carefully to the fact that we come to recover what is ours. Because in addition to being sick, besides having some anger, we come to name what is ours; and we no longer ask for permission.
