On the basis of the data collected between 1 September 2006 and 10 April 2007, the space agency NASA has placed in a representative video the movement of the elements produced by pollution in Asia.
Pollution clouds are moving everywhere and can increase allergies, asthma and respiratory diseases in rainy areas. It has not been possible to measure local influence, it has only been seen that clouds travel through the skies of the whole world. However, they have clearly seen an event: Aerosols released in Asia, especially in China, as they cross the Pacific, absorb water from the sea, giving rise to denser clouds than usual when they reach the American West. These clouds are very thick as they reach the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean, and they cause very strong cyclones.
Consideration is being given to whether the event is repeated every year, but there appears to be a direct link between Asian pollution and cyclone force in the Caribbean. It is also being assessed whether this pollution has any influence on Europe’s climate.
