It has been three years since ETA announced the definitive cessation of its armed activity and it is not clear what the situation of the peace process is, but not how good it is. It has not stopped at all, in 2014 there have been many acts on victims, some of them looking at each other and moving forward together.
The theme of the narrative also goes ahead, as the main protagonist of the story is time and this one goes ahead. The other thing is that it goes well. Those who believe that the story will not be alone in the process, and who knows if there can be a common narrative framework between those who read “conflict” and “terrorism”. Not in bold, but in slots it would be easier. The debate between the groups of friends of the main political traditions of Basque society bears witness to this. Totally different analyses, but also shared spaces, particularly around one idea: Basque society needs peace and the consequences of conflict or terrorism need to be channelled. In determining who, when and how the conceptions are put in motion again, but in most cases they are areas of agreement that, if developed, would give a global agreement. This is a global agreement in many other conflicts in the world. But also often the follow-up of the simple pressing. There is still no general agreement here, but there will also be no pressure, not least because the State has not achieved political victory. That is what you are still looking for, and if that is not possible, at least to hasten as far as possible a future national project.
ETA has taken the most important step: to abandon armed activity. The political Basque left has also taken the strongest steps: one, to persuade those who had arms; and two, to approve the Spanish Parties Act. The truth is that it has taken the strongest steps to initiate a peace process. The road to unilaterality demanded this and it will continue to demand it, also in the areas of the prisoners who are at present in a situation of pil-ping and disarmament. Today, the stoppages in these areas mainly affect the Abertzale left itself, both in the resolution of the consequences of the conflict and in the development of a national project with a historical objective. How do you unlock, then? In other words, and using the fat brush, the conflict must first be resolved and then the time will come to immerse itself in national projects? Or is it going to be unlocked from the consequences of the conflict in the full national project?
A dilemma of responsiveness, but which inevitably needs the alliance of the political, social and institutional world of the Jeltzales. Jeltzales are not pressured in this way, but they can hardly think that the problems of the past are only those of the Abertzale left. The topic is as follows, but also the truth: badly closed wounds get dizzy.
