Over the past few weeks we have heard a number of reports about the alleged diversion of public money. This money should go to several projects for public purposes, but it has been dissipated either by mismanagement or by being unduly acquired. We're talking about the bubble of self-government, the cases of Epsilon and Hiriko, also the TAV. Tens of millions of euros have disappeared from public coffers. EUR 60 million has been spent on the self-government sector, and more on the APR. Corruption, embezzlement of funds and prevarication have been detected.
We are now at the time of the parliamentary inquiry to clarify what happened in the area of self-government; in the case of the TAV and Hiriko, moreover, EH Bildu has complaints lodged with the High Court of Justice of the Basque Country (TSJPV) and are in the process. These cases require a serious, exhaustive and neutral investigation to clarify the irregularities committed by the civil and political managers of the organization. The PNV and the Basque Government, in the hands of bankers, cannot look the other way, because they are involved in all matters. They should be the first to demand neutral research and debug responsibilities for their prestige and management. There are millions of euros at stake. But the steps taken by the diners do not allow us to say that they have a great interest. Someone has had the face of saying that, when he was in the Government, it was not for him to control the management of those projects.
The responsibility also lies with the TSJPV Public Prosecutor’s Office, which is dealing with the denunciation of the facts, but in such cases it should act ex officio. We hope that it will investigate the trajectory of this public money at all costs.
