The main trend in the performing arts today lies in the importance of the creative process. The creator has to fill with meaning the artistic action and the greatest truth it has is the one that comes out of itself. Thus, it collects the signs and messages that appear in the creative process and from there comes, finally, the guiding thread of the artistic action. Many times, trends are more important than what is needed, but if artistic action or trend is real, what can the viewer do against this truth? Just accept it. What will be shown to him is the artistic nude of the creator, because action is the creative process itself, the truth. The objective is the same path as between the initial idea and the final result.Nowadays, most of the creators of the performing arts enter this contemporaneity:
breaking the boundaries between fiction and reality, overcoming norms, inventing new stage spaces, using and mixing different disciplines, assimilating the possibilities offered by new technologies; or returning to the core, the word or the movement – the re-reading of traditional paths. 1 is held these days at the Alhóndiga de Bilbao with the objective of publicizing the most innovative trends in contemporary theatre and dance and performance. Taking as a starting point the process itself, this year’s edition will continue in the next two years. From there 3, 2, 1 countdown. During this time the changes and development that may occur on the scene will also be gathered. The road is therefore the protagonist.
These meetings will show the public the experiences and creative processes of these innovative proposals. The meetings will focus on the most recent stage forms, on the latest trends in the performing arts. Group shows, text plays, Live Art, Low Technology, physical theatre, voice improvisation, live cinema, public space activities or dance reading are some of the latest trends. Because creators are not limited to a specific field, but creativity is conceived in its entirety. So sometimes they use the word or the movement. On other occasions, the audiovisual or music or the mixture of disciplines. Typically, such innovative proposals do not have a window of opportunity. In this sense, it is to be welcomed the effort that the Alhóndiga of Bilbao makes to show these works of art.
Three Basque creators will participate in the meetings. The dancer Idoia Zabaleta will show us her last two proposals, the performance Per-fora and the dance reading based on the novel The Walk of Robert Walser, 1917. You will also enjoy the choreographed music of Ainara LeGardon and Álvaro Barriuso, and the work Archipiel, based on the vocal improvisations. Finally, the l´Alakran theatre group will deliver the workshop Psychodrama 4. A special proposal is that of Espe López and Oskar Gómez Mata de L´Alakrana, who will create a chromlech from the stones contributed by the público.Por other side,
Jan Fabre, from Antwerp, will present Preparatio Mortis, a work that is based on the hyperpassivity that the natural element uses. The Swiss Massimo Furlan will present Fortuna, creating a unique experience for the spectator every ten minutes.
