A group of Chilean and American researchers have analyzed the influence of the tsunami that occurred in Chile on February 27, 2010, and the results they have obtained have been unusual.

The tsunami, caused by the 8.8 magnitude earthquake, affected large areas of the Chilean coast and caused the death of many animals and plants. As a result of the tsunami several areas emerged from the bottom of the sea, some of the beaches disappeared and others appeared.

These landscape changes have been accompanied by dynamic changes. For example, some plants that were long gone in specific places have grown and quickly, as only two years have passed since the tsunami. The same is true of small fish.

According to the researchers, the surprises caused by tsunamis on our coasts must be taken into account.
