The Minister of the Interior has made it clear that we must apologise for the damage done and show regret. I know that this attitude is very Christian, the former Ombudsman is very clear that forgiveness makes no sense, that he will never forgive (as the Jewish perspective corresponds). But now I'm told I have to repent of what I've done and I have to apologize. I, on the other hand, am proud of everything I have done. Surely I would have done a number of things differently; perhaps without bloodshed, or less; perhaps measuring the least influence of the media; but we think we did it correctly; situations, needs, even our homeland’s obligation to do all of that and more, we welcome the difficulties. In those difficult and difficult years, strong and violent decisions had to be taken.

Now, in a situation in which we agree, I would probably have behaved differently; I would have tried to find other ways of achieving the same objectives, not by disagreement with them, but by the demands of today’s society.

I am therefore asked to forgive and repent, but I am not prepared. On the contrary, I said that I am proud and I believe that the sacrifice of those years has been absolutely necessary. To be in the situation in which we find ourselves, as we are now, to be able to live in this society, we need the struggles, the deaths, the struggles of those years. So, Minister, you are right if you expect the slightest sign of regret from me. All these deaths, all the suffering, fear and fear that spread in some social areas were necessary. Yes, if not, the communists, the separatists would take power. They would question our peaceful society. How did they dare to ask for better working conditions when we offered them work? How could they ask them to express their ideas?

I have just left, without regretting or apologizing. Because I was right, because I did all that for the homeland. Have you not seen real families and members of the government at my funerals?
